My name is Kerry Honey, I am a qualified classroom teacher (SACE number: 12402598) and specialise in reading. I teach privately, one-on-one and small groups. I teach any struggling reader, young or old, how to read English. More specifically, I help empower dyslexic individuals with specialised tools they need, in order to read and continue to learn in their unique way and to cope in our text-driven society.
I am a qualified Stark Griffin Dyslexia Therapist (see logo above) and this enables me to offer specific therapy which is tailored for the South African individual. This therapy requires 1 hour per week of one on one tailored tuition and daily homework exercises (all materials included). The duration of your course will range from 8 – 32 weeks depending on the type and severity of your dyslexia or reading level.
The lessons are multisensory and engaging. They are structured and systematic and I use various tried and tested methods and strategies to help my students to understand the underlying code in the English language and be able to decipher it effectively.
I don’t diagnose dyslexia, but I can refer you to Educational Psychologists in KZN who do. I teach any struggling readers and work with the specific SGDA dyslexia reports to tailor your curriculum so that time is well spent in our therapy lessons. This is a private remediation service. It is not computer based, just specialised tuition, with me guiding and supporting you along the way. I will explain the ins and outs of the dyslexic brain so you will be empowered when you realise what your unique brain can do! I will offer you practical advice, tips and refer you on to more information or support and come alongside you in your journey.
Once you commit to this tried and tested programme and when concessions and allowances are in place to support you, you will feel a sense of relief when reading is no longer a stumbling block.
